Position: Program Specialist

Location: Pio Decimo VITA


The Quality Reviewer serves as the technical tax expert and is responsible for ensuring that returns prepared meet the quality requirements of the IRS VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program. Quality Reviewers review each tax return completed by a volunteer, correct errors, and provide substantive tax knowledge and guidance to volunteers.

The position requires individual to be at the Pio Decimo Center 10-15 hours a week Feb. 15, through April 16, 2021.Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.


  • Serve as assistant to the Program Coordinator to maintain quality standards
  • Conduct quality review process on tax returns and complete necessary quality review action items
  • Assist in organizing taxpayer documents for storage and assist with handling rejected returns
  • Ensure that each completed tax return is reviewed to ensure it is complete and accurate.
  • Ensure security of confidential information
  • Ensure proper reporting and record keeping


Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience preparing individual income tax returns or with at least one-year's individual income tax preparation experience for low-income taxpayers
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
  • High level of computer literacy
  • High level of comfort and effectiveness in working with multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Proven skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven strong communication skills oral and written communications are clear and concise using appropriate style, grammar and tone


  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Additional years of directly related experience
