Location/Program: Pio Decimo, Resettlement and Placement Refugee Program, Housing and Resource Specialist, Tucson

The Caseworker II is responsible for providing case management and referrals to newly arrived refugees in their initial resettlement adjustment period including referrals to external services and other agencies, documenting services, filing and ongoing training to refugees. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.


  • Provides pre-arrival core services and welcomes refugees at the airport
  • Work with apartment completes to secure housing for newly arrived refugees.
  • Coordinate external and internal resources for newly arrived clients.
  • Coordinate donations and housing resources for newly arrived refugees.
  • Conducts client intake, assesses refugee's needs, provides core services in a timely manner
  • Refers refugees to mainstream services provided, monitors the follow up
  • Develops plans and strategies with client to attain self sufficiency
  • Monitors and update financial records
  • Documents services, contacts and follow up
  • Maintain physical and web-based files in a logical, timely, and efficient manner
  • Provide a weekly update report during department meetings.
  • Provide immediate case management services to clients to ensure that they develop a short-term and long-term plan for housing and employment.
  • Provides on going training as needed
  • Provides relevant information to the appropriate staff
  • Collaborates with staff/volunteers to provide referral and services to refugees
  • May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business


Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

  • High School / GED
  • One year of experience in Migration Refugee Service program or social work
  • Ability to relate to clients in culturally and linguistically appropriate manner
  • Familiar with refugees' needs and community services available
  • Excellent data entry skills (speed and accuracy)
  • Proven skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar and tone
  • Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of insurance and Arizona Motor Vehicle division 39 months Motor Vehicle Report
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds


  • Associates in Human Services or related field
  • Additional years of directly related experience
  • Bilingual
