Full-time/Temporary - Position funded until March 31, 2023, with potential for extension.

The Administrative Assistant II / Legal Assistant performs eligibility consultation screenings for the immigration service under the supervision of staff attorney or accredited representative. Refers clients to other community resources. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.


  • Compile applicable documents from clients and prepare to file to USCIS under the supervision of the staff attorney or accredited representative.
  • Retrieve relevant articles on country of origin to support the clients' cases.
  • Create and maintain clients electronic and physical file to include copying, scanning, uploading, and printing documents.
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment.
  • Support development in building community relationships.
  • Assist with workshops, clinics, and information sessions for immigrants, social service agencies serving immigrants, local government, and comm-based organizations. Outreach and workshops require occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Comply with CCS policies, procedures, and non-profits immigration law best practices.
  • Maintain client files electronically and hard copies, and data for reporting requirements.
  • Participate in regular legal training and CLINIC.
  • Participate in meetings and webinars on behalf of CCS and its partner organizations and collaborators.
  • All other duties: Perform all other duties as needed and/or as directed by supervisor.


Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Support staff attorney and accredited representative with complex legal issues on behalf of low-income immigrant populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Public speaking skills in English and Spanish, able to read and write in both languages.
  • Experience and commitment in developing and providing services to the target population and culturally diverse newcomer community.
  • Very strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize archive document files.
  • Knowledge of local resources, public systems, and area philanthropy preferred.
  • Proficiency in Windows/PC environment, and able to quickly become proficient in the use of CCS immigration law software and database (LawLogix-Hyland).
  • Bilingual-English and Spanish fluency
