Location: Albuquerque NM

Coordinates Support Service Provider (SSP) referral services for the Client Services department at the Community Outreach Program for the Deaf-New Mexico under the supervision of the Client Services Program Director. Provides consumer-oriented advocacy support to consumers under the direction of the Client Services Case Manager/Service Coordinator. Provides direct SSP services. Position requires attention to detail.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Corporate Director of Human Resources.

  • Associates Degree or 2 years post-secondary education
  • Ability to communicate directly to SSPs and consumers using sign, video relay services, email, and other modes of communication used by SSPs and consumers
  • Ability to type at least 35 wpm with minimal errors
  • Proven ability to enter data into spreadsheets and/or other data bases
  • 1 year of experience in providing SSP services to individuals who are deafblind or deaf/hard of hearing with significant disabilities within formal, structured SSP program
  • 1 year of experience working with individuals who are deaf or deaf/hard of hearing with significant disabilities
  • 1 year experience providing advocacy support to individuals who are deafblind, deaf/hard of hearing with a significant disability, and older deaf
  • 1 year experience in general scheduling of employees for work
  • Pass drug screening
  • Pass FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Summary
  • Valid New Mexico Driver License, proof of insurance and New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division Motor Vehicle Report

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Additional years of experience in providing SSP services to individuals who are deafblind or deaf/hard of hearing with significant disabilities within formal, structured SSP program
  • Additional years working with individuals who are deaf or deaf/hard of hearing with significant disabilities
  • Previous experience scheduling SSPs
  • Additional years' experience scheduling employees for work
  • Working knowledge to touch signals that can be used to provide additional environmental information/feedback to consumers
  • Additional years' experience providing advocacy support to consumers who are deafblind, deaf/hard of hearing with significant experience
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and national resources available to fill service and support gaps experienced by consumers
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications, advance communications, and internet accessibility technology used by individuals who are deafblind
